A hotel built in 1886 for the well-to-do “silk stocking” crowd has been transformed into a mountaintop spa resort, catering to families and couples of all ages who are longing to create lifetime memories. The 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa, a proud member of Historic Hotels of America, was returned to its original grandeur several decades ago. Now with the addition of the New Moon Spa, two restaurants, and nearly two dozen resort activities each week the year ‘round across its 15 Ozark mountaintop acres, The Crescent has become known as the symbol of hospitality for the state of Arkansas.
Mary Howze, the hotel’s activity director, outlines some of their daily resort activities for this summer and enjoyed throughout the week. These are in addition to Crescent Hotel staples of “Vintage Spine-Chiller Movies” in the Crystal Ballroom, “Flickering Tales” ghost stories around a campfire, and “Not Really A Door”, in the Crescent College Theater, plus, of course, the nightly Crescent Hotel Ghost Tour of “America’s Most Haunted Hotel”, a ticketed event.
